The wedding of Palo (Palos Brudefaerd) (1934), Nanook's obvious successor, is the last beautiful work of the famed Danish polar explorer and anthropologist Dr. Knud Rasmussen. Filmed in sound with an Inuit cast from the Angmagssalik district of east Greenland, Palo, like Nanook, documents a vanishing lifestyle and uses Flaherty's devise of an appealing narrative; in this case, a story of two men who desire the same woman as a wife. It is mastered in high definition and digitally restored from an original 35mm nitrate print in the collection of George Eastman House.

André Demester leaves his farm in northern France to become a soldier in a far off land. On his last night of freedom he witnesses Barbe, his childhood friend and secret love, sleeping with another man. A twist of fate puts the two men side by side in combat where their undeclared personal war and the one they are fighting tragically merge. The creature, with an expressionless face, stares out at nothing, at a fixed point in space, like a lobotomized patient.Pythagoras' presence disturbs the others who begin to imagine an invisible presence in the room, exactly at the point where his gaze seems fixed.Perhaps that is why -or maybe it is because they need a cathartic element- they begin to beat him often, while he feels nothing of the torture, and the vicious circle of catharsis and guilt closes in more and more.Meanwhile Axel moves dangerously close to Ana, pushed on by Jonathan, as Ana gives into Axel's desire in a desperate attempt to stop the free fall of their house.

Renowned Australian artist William Yang traces the labyrinthine web of his family history in this adaptation of his iconic live performance piece. Both William Yang's paternal and maternal grandfathers came to Australia from the south of China in the 1880s to dig for gold. Both his parents were born here. William grew up on a tobacco farm in Dimbulah in North Queensland and was brought up as an assimilated Australian with his Chinese side denied and unacknowledged. In his midlife William claimed his Chinese heritage. This led him to research his own family. He travelled around Australia and the USA piecing together a family history. He has probably met more relatives than anyone else in the family. He has scores of relatives from all walks of life. Some are rich, but the majority are ordinary folk with ordinary jobs. Most cannot speak a word of Chinese. A visual feast, Blood Links examines how the Chinese diaspora establish roots in foreign soil, and how over the generations, through intermarriage, blood is mixed; yet the intricate bonds of family remain.
