The (East) German film collection is presented by the DEFA film library at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The DEFA film library is the only archive and research center outside Europe devoted to the study of a broad spectrum of filmmaking from or related to East Germany from 1946 to the present. Its film series have been featured at venues throughout North America and elsewhere in the world. The DEFA film library has access to over 7500 films that were made at the GDR's DEFA Studios between the end of WWII and German unification in 1990. These films ran the gamut: dramas and comedies, love stories and war stories, Westerns and sci-fi films, animation films, documentaries, newsreels and Cold War propaganda. DEFA, the acronym for Deutsche Film Aktiengesellschaft (German film company), was heir to some of the greats of German film history and the historic compound in Potsdam-Babelsberg where legendary Ufa directors made such landmark films asMetropolis andThe Blue Angel.

Rather than focus on its familiar role as a monument to high culture, director Nicolas Philibert shows us the everyday life of the museum and how it operates.

Many little known paintings from private collections have been included. Living artists have been recorded, talking about their techniques and the ideas behind their paintings. The letters and journals of earlier artists are drawn on, as well as the views of critics of the day. Every film was made in consultation with a leading expert on the artist, and scripts were discussed with the Education Department of NSW prior to production. The series consultant was Daniel Thomas, Curator of Australian Art at the Australian National Gallery, Canberra. Produced in 2011 by the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia.

When a motorbike gang kills an occultist, the evil spirit he was summoning inhabits a damaged bike. The bike is then bought and restored, but reveals its true nature when it tries to exact vengance on the gang, and anyone else who gets in its way.
