School Library Journal Review
PreS-As an introduction to various body parts, this picture book will encourage toddlers to participate in Busy Lizzie's everyday activities, e.g., ``Busy Lizzie has two feet, Kick your feet, Busy Lizzie.'' Nose, belly, ears, mouth, and hands are also included. The watercolor illustrations are colorful and textured, with gentle scenes of the child taking a bath, brushing her teeth, or wiggling her nose at a butterfly. An enjoyable and painless way to reinforce learning.- Christine A. Moesch, Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, NY (c) Copyright 2010. Publisher's Weekly Review
PW drew attention to the "spunky" art in this "deceptively simple" introduction to basic body parts. Ages 3-6. (Oct.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved
Horn Book Review
A little girl's day is busy with commonplace activities that culminate in snuggling into a warm bed to 'sleep tight.' A brief, repetitive text is extended by stylized, full-color illustrations of Lizzie and her pet cat. From HORN BOOK 1994, (c) Copyright 2010. Booklist Review
Ages 2-5. Busy Lizzie will have preschoolers following along as she claps her hands, kicks her feet, wiggles her nose, rubs her belly, and tugs her ears. The brief, simply written text is loaded with action verbs that beg for participation and will make for a lively story hour. Done in colored pencil and watercolor, the double-page spreads are every bit as active and charming as Lizzie. Broad, flat shapes decorated with lots of small details fill the page to give children the feeling of being right beside Lizzie during the day's activities. A satisfying end finds Lizzie snuggled in bed, her ever-present calico cat at her feet, recharging her batteries for another busy day. (Reviewed November 1, 1994)1558583238Lauren Peterson
