Booklist Review
With a chatty, interactive tone (give it a go!), this title in the For Girls! series encourages girls to practice a healthy lifestyle. Each lively, readable spread is packed with color photos, computer graphics, and lots of boxes filled with facts, lists, and practical suggestions. First, the focus is on exercise, indoors and out: Move it! Included in the advice about how not to be a couch potato is: take breaks from the computer; bike, skateboard, and power walk when possible; or get into martial arts. The Eat Smart pages show the five food groups, warn about not skipping breakfast, and suggest quick snacks and other cooking tips. The closing spreads discuss looking good, with tips for healthy hair and skin, as well as finding clothes and makeup that feel right. Several pages talk about how to prevent stress, sleep tight, spoil yourself, and ask for help. With the hands-on, nonpreachy approach, older siblings will like this, too. Fun for family and friends to browse and talk about together.--Rochman, Hazel Copyright 2010 Booklist
